Steven Asheim teaches instrumental music at Heritage High School in Littleton where the music program enjoys a state and national reputation for excellence. Although student population at the school has declined since 1986, enrollment in Mr. Asheim's classes has increased, a phenomenon administrators attribute to families' moving to the area so their children can receive instruction from him. Under his direction, Heritage High School bands have received numerous honors, and have played at Carnegie Hall and for the President of the United States. Among the many awards Mr. Asheim has received for his contributions to music education are the CBA Hall of Fame Award and the Distinguished Alumni Award from Western State College.
