Technology specialist Shirley Ray helps students at Orange High School in Hillsborough to develop the academic foundation and basic skills they will need to succeed in life. In her "Home Economics Gone Hi-Tech!" curriculum, Mrs. Ray's students gain practical experience in applying technology to all areas of family and consumer science, using computers and word processing programs to create news and business letters, pamphlets and brochures. She co-created a social studies project in which student groups use technology to research and create multimedia presentations on the history of companies formed during the Industrial Revolution. Mrs. Ray shares her technological expertise with other teachers through in-service training on multimedia techniques and software.
