At Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School in Indianapolis, Sherry Annee teaches Honors Biotechnology, an elective lab-intensive course for juniors and seniors she created in 2003. She is also the current vice-president of the Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc. A ninth-grade biology teacher at the time of her Award, Sherry Annee uses a blend of student- centered and technology-based instructional methods to engage her students as active learners, providing them with the time, space and techniques to learn from their experiences. She created and maintains a class blog featuring a weekly schedule, online discussions, resources, documentation of labs, and recommended reading. As former co-chair of Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School's North Central Association Committee, Ms. Annee worked on developing a school profile, identifying student improvement goals, creating and implementing interventions, and conducting professional development workshops for faculty and staff.
