Spanish teacher Shelia Duncan initiated and leads the program at Boyd County High School in Ashland. Ms. Duncan’s leadership has resulted in improved student achievement and increased enrollment in higher education among program participants. As a former social worker and missionary who served in Costa Rica and Ecuador, her Spanish instruction integrates service into the learning of language and culture. In addition to her advocacy role for the Hispanic community, Ms. Duncan serves on the district leadership, service learning and ESL committees. Ms. Duncan also teaches Early College via Morehead State University.
