Shannon C'de Baca develops and teaches online high school chemistry courses for Iowa Learning Online. Previously, C'de Baca taught chemistry at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, where she developed KIDCHEM, an innovative program in which students performed science shows at area elementary schools. A committed advocate of equity in all aspects of public education, C'de Baca has served on the Iowa Department of Education Equity Advisory Committee and is a co-chair for the Iowa Model Core Curriculum and Every Learner Inquires projects. She is also a citizen education ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain and a U.S. Teacher Corps presenter of science workshops both in person and via the Web through the U.S. Department of Education's Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative. C'de Baca describes her "passion" as the expansion of Web- based education to create more opportunities for teachers and students.
