Art teacher Sean McCabe made art a vital and valuable part of the curriculum at Liberty Bell High School in Winthrop. His instruction empowered students who doubted their artistic abilities to become competent artists, motivated others to improve and expand on their gifts, and boosted student motivation and academic achievement. Students were inspired by Mr. McCabe's parallel career as a commercial graphic designer, book illustrator and professional artist. Mr. McCabe coordinated an Outward Bound scholarship program, coached the cross-country team, and founded a community-based Climbing Gym.
