Salvador Tamayo is a dedicated educator and community leader with a diverse background in teaching and coaching. Currently, he works at Leman Middle School as a media teacher, soccer varsity coach, and instructor of the school's Ballet Folklorico.
Tamayo leverages technology to enhance his students' skills, knowledge, and confidence while also contributing to the community. In collaboration with the West Chicago City Museum, he and his students have created several award-winning websites focusing on the museum, the local Hispanic community, and the history of West Chicago. Furthermore, he led his students in developing an "I Want to Be an American Citizen" website to help family and community members prepare for the United States citizenship exam. His class has also produced video work for training and showcasing district programs, further demonstrating their technical and creative abilities.
Beyond his work at Leman Middle School, Tamayo has taught bilingual teacher education courses at Wheaton College and facilitates an instructional technology class for teachers at Fermi Lab. His multifaceted approach to education and community engagement showcases his commitment to fostering growth and learning in diverse settings.
