Roy Anthony is the instrumental music director and the chairman of the Performing Arts Department at Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley. Mr. Anthony, who designs his instruction to develop students' pride in themselves, their school and their community, has helped the Mount Miguel Marching Band expand from its original 19 members to the 160 it includes today. Under his direction, the group has ranked high in every major competition in Southern California. Mr. Anthony is also responsible for the development of a creative music program that includes the Concert Orchestra, the Concert Band and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. In the course of his 10 years with Mount Miguel, the programs and groups he has initiated have consistently earned "superior" ratings. In 1995, Mr. Anthony was named a California Teacher of the Year by the Department of Education.
