Ronald Anderson is principal of Harrison Street School in DeKalb where he works to create a learning climate that is suffused with a sense of caring, support, and high expectations for students and staff. Mr. Anderson has an eclectic approach to learning that aims to combine the best of proven methods and materials with promising practices and programs. Committed to building a team spirit among staff, Mr. Anderson has been called upon to guide three schools through difficult periods of reorganization and redirection, and his staff has initiated such programs as a Conflict Managers Program to make the school safe and trouble-free and a Keenager Program that brings senior citizens into the school. Mr. Anderson's special passion is reading, and programs such as Reading Recovery, which helps first graders with below-level skills and Summer School Reading Lunch Bunch, which helps students sharpen their ability at lunch-time reading groups, put that passion to work.
