Following his retirement as the principal of Brookfield High School in Brookfield, Dr. Richard Nabel is now the Head of General Studies at Hebrew High School of New England (HHNE)in West Hartford, Connecticut. When he was principal of Naugatuck High School, he brought eight years of education experience to the position. He began teaching initially to support himself while attending law school, but Mr. Nabel soon discovered where his true interests and talents lay. Under his leadership, Naugatuck High School, once a school in distress, became the only high school nominated by Connecticut Department of Education for recognition in the National Secondary School Recognition Program. Mr. Nabel was active in the Connecticut Principals' Academy and the Connecticut Association Schools (CAS), and served as chair of the CAS High School Board of Control. Honors he has received include CAS Citation and selection as an Education Enhancement Act Fellow Finalist in 1990.
