Raymond Hasart, chair of the technology department at Redmond High School in Redmond, helped raise $3.5 million for the implementation of a state-of-the-art technology facility at Redmond High that includes computers and equipment for everything from aerodynamic testing and hydroponics gardening to microelectronics. Mr. Hasart's students use this equipment in his Introduction to Technology class to learn such concepts as robotics, computer-aided drafting and design, and desktop publishing. In addition to his technology classes, Mr. Hasart teaches a unique vocational class called Beginning Floral Design, in which students not only learn how to create corsages, boutonnieres and floral arrangements in the school's greenhouse facility, but also market their creations to fellow students and teachers.
