Agricultural technology teacher R. Micah Story created an interdisciplinary agriculture program at East Jackson Middle School in Commerce that has become a model program for the state. Mr. Story's modular curriculum engages students with hands-on labs on subjects ranging from animal and plant science to hydroponics. Whether writing a planting program for a simulated greenhouse, designing a landscape using interactive software, or participating in agricultural internships through the Future Farmers of America, Mr. Story's students experience success as they develop and apply essential science, mathematics, language and technical skills to agribusiness and real life. A frequent workshop presenter on modular education, Mr. Story has developed a popular lab management package and serves on the advisory board of Learning Labs, Inc., an educational technology company.
