Patrick Hould, principal at Lewistown Junior High School in Lewistown, knows the power and benefit of recognition programs. He implemented the Jostens Renaissance program to recognize and reward both the highest-achieving students and those who show the most significant improvement in their grade point average. In addition, he created a springtime enrichment program that exposes students to a variety of careers and hobbies, ranging from emergency medical training, archery, and stained glass design to cake decorating. Mr. Hould discusses his students' activities and school events with their parents through a weekly newsletter. Incoming sixth-graders also benefit from Mr. Hould's concern for student well-being through an orientation program designed to ease the transition to junior high school.
