Norma Mota-Altman teaches sixth grade at Emery Park Elementary school and extends herself beyond the classroom to reach all students, especially those with special needs. Ms. Mota-Altman is admired for her creativity in cultivating a love of learning in her students and formulating an atmosphere which fosters the confidence students need to succeed. Utilizing a variety of instructional strategies, Ms. Mota-Altman oversees "The Thinkers's Club," a before-school program for at-risk students in grades four through six. She provides opportunities for these students to achieve goals and increase their self-esteem in addition to using software for building critical thinking skills
