Physics teacher Norma Howell created and now advises the Physics Club at Wayne High School in Huber Heights. Among the club's activities is "The Circus of the Scientists," a district-wide science fair and competition . A former engineer, Mrs. Howell drew on her background and training to develop a collaborative laboratory program integrating students from math and science classes. She launched an "Independent Research Project" in which her honors students research a topic with the goal of submitting their research in an international science competition. Mrs. Howell is president and sole proprietor of a company that promotes literacy by providing personalized reading books to the district's Title I reading program.
