The business education classes Miriam Dyer teaches at Colonel Richardson High School in Federalsburg prepare students for a successful transition into the business world. Through her work with the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), Ms. Dyer prepares her students to excel in state and national competitions. In 1995, Colonel Richard High School's FBLA chapter was named Maryland's FBLA Chapter of the Year. Ms. Dyer has also helped establish a partnership between the school's business department and the Caroline County Chamber of Commerce. Her classroom, which serves as the Chamber's headquarters, is a fully equipped office staffed by students. This partnership has provided students job-shadowing experience as well as the chance to learn more about professional opportunities in their community. The project was awarded first-place by the Maryland State Department of Education for Career and Technology/Business Partnerships.
