"Job service for classroom credit is an excellent way of getting our students out into the community," says Michael Geesaman, a computer technology teacher at Canon City High School in Canon City. The CTS (Computer Technology Specialist) program Mr. Geesaman helped develop and implement trains students to be educational computer support specialists. In this program, students teach software to instructors, assist fellow students with computer research and oversee the installation, repair and upkeep of computers throughout the Fremont School District. Mr. Geesaman has also been instrumental in his school's implementation of S.T.E. P. (Student Technician Engineering Program). The program's computer lab allows students in Mr. Geesaman's computer drafting classes to take on increasingly ambitious projects. Mr. Geesaman and his students are currently working with the city's engineering department to develop a city base map.
