At the time of his Award, math teacher Michael Arsenault combined exceptional content knowledge with creative and innovative teaching strategies at Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs. Teaching a variety of math subjects including geometry, advanced algebra, functions, statistics and trigonometry, Arsenault helps students learn through relevant, real-world applications of their learning. Formerly an information technology manager, senior application developer and Webmaster in the private sector, Arsenault is a leader in incorporating technology into his teaching and training fellow teachers on how to do the same. His instruction has helped students achieve consistent gains on the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP).While serving as a teacher at Academy Online High School, Arsenault coordinated a task force for online content development and served on several district level committees including the District Technology Advisory Council, the Assessment Support committee, and the Math Coach team. While an Assistant Principal at Timberview Middle School, Arsenault worked with the Bring Your Own Device initiative and provided instructional leadership in using common assessments aligned to standards in Math classrooms. Currently, he serves as a Director for Human Resources and manages the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) in addition to his other duties.
