"All Kids Can Learn" was one of the programs Principal Michael Jordan implemented at Sabin Early Childhood Education Center in Portland. This program and others like it were part of the Sabin Demonstration Project, a project that Mr. Jordan hoped would confirm that academic and personal success can be achieved by all, "regardless of class, race or gender." "The correct match of a learning style and a teaching style," said Mr. Jordan, "will invariably result in progress." In the Project classroom, students were encouraged to study areas that are of interest to them; this strategy served to motivate the students. In 1978 and again in 1990, the Oregon Alliance of Black School Educators recognized Mr. Jordan for his outstanding abilities as a leader in education.
