Michael Huerth is principal of South High School in Minneapolis, a position he has held since 1998. Previously, Huerth served as principal of Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis, where his innovations included the "All Nations Indian Program" to address the dropout rate of American Indian students throughout the city. Huerth also implemented the Patrick Henry High Attendance Initiative, raising the attendance rate by more than 10 percent. His other contributions included the development of a technology wing where students could expand their computer skills and conduct extensive research on the Internet. Huerth also enlisted corporate partners for a school-to-work initiative.
