Eileen Shaver, a business education teacher at Wirt County High School in Elizabeth, also serves as the advisor to the local FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) chapter. "The FBLA," says Mrs. Shaver, "has provided an extra avenue through which I can develop a personal relationship with each of my students." In connection with her FBLA involvement, Mrs. Shaver has guided her students in compiling, publishing and distributing the school's football program, in the planning and execution of a bazaar and walkathon to benefit The March of Dimes, and in a number of holiday season community service projects. As a business educator, Mrs. Shaver is particularly alert to curriculum revisions that will reflect her community's specific employment needs, and her service on the county's technological council has greatly enhanced her ability to teach technologically integrated classes.
