Mark Kaercher's passion for teaching infuses every dimension of his work as math teacher at his alma mater of Shaker High School in Latham, NY. His subject mastery, creativity and enthusiasm combine to create a motivating inquiry-based environment that challenges students at all levels of ability. He frequently integrates technology into his innovative hands-on lessons. In 2015, Mark was named a NYS Master Teacher. Mark is a presenter at regional and statewide math conferences. Mark has also served as the facilitator of the SEMI High Tech U student and teacher programs in the Capital Region, Southern Tier, and Mohawk Valley Regions on NYS. He has also been a presenter at the Celebration of Teaching & Learning in NYC. At the time of his award, Mark was an 8th grade math teacher at Newport Middle High School in Newport, NH. He also served as the math department chairperson, and as the Newport Teacher's Association President. It is in Newport where Mark developed his talents and passion for teaching.
