Art teacher Mark Vinich integrates the arts into every aspect of the curriculum at Lincoln Elementary School in Riverton. His students' highly creative artworks include wire sculptures of vocabulary words, illustrations for books they have written, African huts and musical instruments for a social studies unit, and a simulated rain forest for a unit on the environment. Mr. Vinich created and directs an after-school program for special education students and coordinates the school's gifted and talented program, stressing critical thinking skills and independent research. He has served as program chair of the Wyoming Interdisciplinary Conference and vice president of the Alliance for Arts Education, and has presented at numerous conferences, including the National Council of the Arts.
