Marilyn Cook teaches third grade at Zephyr Cove Elementary School in Zephyr Cove. A Nevada teacher for 17 years, Ms. Cook has also served as a district reading specialist and middle school classroom teacher. Ms. Cook believes that students' successful learning habits are a function of both teacher's attention to developing strong learning strategies and the amount of time teachers spend transmitting good study habits to their students. Ms. Cook also strives to make parents an integral part of their children's education. Ms. Cook has also worked as administrator for the Court Appointed Special Advocates Program in Reno where she has supervised and trained volunteers to work on behalf of abused, neglected and abandoned children. Ms. Cook has also trained volunteers in prison settings. In 1989, Ms. Cook was named Teacher of the Year for her district.
