In 1999, a reporter from the Green Bay Press-Gazette wrote a year-long series of stories on teacher Marcy Levine's classroom at Doty Elementary School in Green Bay. What she found was a master teacher who challenges and encourages her students each day, while employing a range of innovative practices, including guided reading literacy centers, running records, portfolios, student-led conferences, and student- and teacher-designed rubrics. A member of several district curriculum committees, Mrs. Levine participates in the Professional Development Certificate program in partnership with the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. With her expertise in early literacy development, she is frequently invited to train other teachers at various professional organizations.
