"I strongly believe that gains and accomplishments are made one at a time, and are cumulative," says Marcia Kenyon, first-grade teacher at Eastwood Elementary School in West Fargo. In an effort to assist students with the development of independent and team thinking skills, Mrs. Kenyon's students are given the responsibility for creating, organizing and planning various science projects. "Creativity in Action," a Title IV C grant she secured, has added visual, dramatic and musical arts to the basic curriculum, sparking creativity and increased academic achievement among less enthusiastic learners. Mrs. Kenyon serves on Eastwood's North Central Association Planning Committee and administers the district's Elementary Summer School program. In 1996, she was named North Dakota Teacher of the Year.
