Lynn Smith was a visual arts specialist to the students of Parkview Arts & Science Magnet High School in the Little Rock (Arkansas) School District for the last 11 years of his 39 year teaching career. He retired from the Little Rock School District in 2020. "To be a teacher, artist, role model, counselor and critic is a big responsibility," says Mr. Smith. "Through these responsibilities I have the opportunity--and obligation--to help young people grow and mature. Teaching the basic skills while leaving some room for individual and personal interpretations is an ever-present challenge." Mr. Smith is a 2001 National Board Certified Art Teacher for Early Adolescence/Young Adulthood and recertified thru 2021. He was honored most recently as the 2020 Parkview Arts/Science Magnet High School Teacher of the Year and the district’s High School Teacher of the Year that same year. He was the 2009 Patron of the Arts Award recipient from the Arkansas Young Artists Association and the 2008 Little Rock School District High School Teacher of the Year.
