Fifth-grade teacher Lucille Ferragamo uses innovative methods of instruction to bring out the best in her students at Augustine C. Whelan Elementary School in Revere. Combining manipulatives and Internet-based research with learning styles, multiple intelligences and critical thinking theory, Mrs. Ferragamo stimulates her students' minds and individualizes their instruction. She is a grade-level leader and a technology trainer and mentor, and coordinates the school's annual Authors' Festival. Mrs. Ferragamo has served on several committees, including the school's Textbook Selection Committee and a district-level committee aimed at aligning the curriculum with state frameworks. She is a member of the North Shore Elementary Alliance and has been a presenter for the Revere Public Schools Elementary Alliance.
