Lisa Jones educates not only her third-grade students at Wileman Elementary School in Delevan but her fellow teachers as well. Through her use of Reader's/Writer's Workshops, Ms. Jones helps her students develop strong language arts and communication skills while at the same time teaching self-discipline. She introduced a spelling program that has boosted writing scores on state assessment tests. Beyond the classroom, she has helped develop a comprehensive district-wide staff development program that includes performance expectations, mentoring, teacher evaluation and intensive assistance. As one of two system operators in the building, Ms. Jones is responsible for maintenance on the school's computer network and frequently provides technology training for her colleagues.
