"I want to make learning possible for all children, but especially for those who need alternative methods in order to succeed," says Lisa Frampton, a physical education teacher for kindergarten through fifth grade at Sara Collins Elementary School in Greenville. Sara Collins Elementary School houses Greenville County's satellite program for the mainstreaming of children affected by visual, hearing and orthopedic problems. Miss Frampton's specialized physical education classes are central to the success of this program. Fourteen years after she taught her first class, Miss Frampton still remembers the smiles and excitement that welcomed her as she warily entered the room. Today, she hardly notices the "wheelchairs, crutches, and braces;" she is too busy seeing children who are enthusiastic about learning. Every year, Miss Frampton presents a school-wide cardiovascular fitness program that helps to give all students and teachers a healthy lifestyle.
