In 1988, Linda Morikone left her job as vice president of a financial company to realize her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. Currently teaching gifted and talented students at Noelani Elementary School in Honolulu, Ms. Morikone uses video technology to engage her students in project-based learning activities. Student-produced videos have ranged from an interview with the Lt. Governor, which was broadcast live throughout the school via closed circuit television, to an anti-crime public service announcement created in partnership with the State Attorney General's office. Ms. Morikone has written and received grants worth more than one-half million dollars, enabling Noelani Elementary to vastly expand its technological resources and to provide expert professional development for its teachers.
