Since retiring from teaching in 2000, Larry D'Anza has become an organizational development consultant with De La Porte & Associates, Inc. working with Fortune 500 companies across the United States. Over the past five years, Mr. D'Anza has held the positions of account manager, sales manager, New Mexico operations manager and at the end of 2004 was named the director of operations. He states that his involvement with leaders in business and industry is a wonderful extension of his educational career, as he helps "individuals and organizations adapt to change in a manner that assures their growth, future and fulfillment." At Eldorado High School, Mr. D'Anza was a teacher and coordinator of the Marketing Education program, which grew to become the premier high school marketing program in New Mexico. Mr. D'Anza was noted for implementing three highly effective school-business partnerships that created real-life settings in which students trained for careers in business and marketing. To cite one example, the association he established with Giant Industries resulted in the Eldorado High School Eagle's Nest Food Mart, which serves the school community.
One of the most important things I have learned since I joined De La Porte & Associates is a training course titled Social Styles Management. This is the #1 interpersonal communications course in the world. I believe strongly that this would be an outstanding tool for all teachers and adminstrators in schools today to more effectively communicate with students, teachers, parents, etc. If anyone is interested in learning more about this, please contact me at Ldanza@delaporte.com.
