Kim Slotsve currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education for the Minot Public Schools. As principal of Red River High School in Grand Forks, Kim Slotsve sees her role as "working with kids, not just handing out consequences," a delicate balancing act that is enhanced by her organizational and supervisory skills and a commitment to excellence. Ms. Slotsve heightened accountability for student attendance and re-established the Teacher Assistance Team. This team meets regularly with teachers to identify students in need of special services, recommend interventions, and help students and their parents devise positive solutions to those problems. Ms. Slotsve also reactivated the School Community Network in which representatives from secondary schools, juvenile courts, law enforcement departments and community agencies address community youth concerns such as gangs and substance abuse. Ms. Slotsve is president of the North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals, and serves on the board of the state's Council of Educational Leaders.
