Kim LaFontaine is the Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services for Pearl Public School District whose primary areas of responsibility include curriculum & instruction, personnel, and public relations. She is a National Board Certified Teacher with a Specialist in Educational Leadership (William Carey University, 2019), a Master of Arts in English (Mississippi State University, 1994), and a Bachelor of Science in English Education (Mississippi State University, 1992). Mrs. LaFontaine has been with the Pearl district since 1997, when she began as an English teacher at Pearl High School. In addition to her duties for the district, Mrs. LaFontaine has served on numerous committees with the Mississippi Department of Education in the areas of educator licensure, beginning teacher support programs, subject area testing, and teacher appraisal. Mrs. LaFontaine was named Pearl High School Teacher of the Year (2001), Pearl Public School District Teacher of the Year (2001), Jackson Metro-Area Outstanding Teacher (2002), and Pearl High School STAR Teacher (2012), Pearl Public School District Administrator of the Year (2015), and Mississippi Association of Colleges for Teacher Education Outstanding Administrator Award for Belhaven (2020). As a member of the Kiwanis Club of Pearl and Saint Paul Catholic Church Leadership Council, she participates in numerous community service projects and teaches religious education classes. She is married to Chad LaFontaine, and they have three children: Drew, Bailey, and Jacob.
