Kerry Cantrell, math/physics teacher at Marshfield High School in Marshfield, has led the transformation of his economically disadvantaged five-school district into an institution of technological learning, with over 400 computers and monitors, printers, fiberoptic lines, Internet access, and hundreds of hours of in-service training. He has further demonstrated his leadership as a Chair of the Math Curriculum Committee, as a senior leader for the Missouri Assessment Project 2000, and as President of the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics. By conducting his annual "kite flying physics experiment," Mr. Cantrell embeds complex physics concepts into his students' minds, which they remember long after they have left his class.
