As administrator of "The Center" in Leadville, Kathleen Brendza lives out her philosophy that to provide for children we must strive to meet the needs of the entire family, not just those of the child behind the desk. "The Center" provides infant/toddler, preschool, day care and before-and after-school care for all children in the Lake County District. The state-of-the-art whole-childhood education program at "The Center" has received state and national recognition. Ms. Brendza, who has been the recipient of two Governor Initiative Award Grants, was chosen to receive the Governor's Award for Excellence in Education in 1991.
