Since 1998, when she became principal of South Clinton Elementary School in Clinton, Kathleen Jones has made a successful transition from exemplary teacher to outstanding administrator. She initiated a comprehensive discipline and character education program called Keys to Success, including after-school tutoring and rewards for exemplary behavior. Mrs. Jones also implemented Pioneer Day, an annual event that brings students, staff and the community together as they learn about their East Tennessee heritage through hands-on activities and demonstrations. Previously a computer lab instructor for the district, Mrs. Jones recently began a program called Tuesday Night Technology, inviting parents and students to work together in the school's computer lab.
