Striving to teach her kindergarten and first-grade students about the world outside their isolated rural community, teacher Judy Kuhn of McGrath Elementary School in McGrath has involved them in everything from a makeshift rodeo to a Chinese ribbon dance. Ms. Kuhn encourages parents to attend these events, and keeps them abreast of their children's progress through a weekly newsletter.
