As a dedicated educator for over 22 years, Judith Pavlak not only taught sixth grade at Channing Memorial Elementary School in Elgin, but was also vitally interested in district activities and education in general. In a school where most students come from economically and socially disadvantaged families, Ms. Pavlak cultivated a desire to learn in all with whom she came in contact. In an on-going effort to foster leadership and advanced thinking skills, she developed innovative learning experiences for her students such as an artist-in-residence program. Her openness with colleagues and continual contact with parents garnered their respect and support. They have helped her open the door to a successful learning environment.
