Principal Judith Brueggeman's leadership initiatives have generated a climate of sustained improvement at Harris-Lake Park Elementary School in Harris. She secured grant funding to acquire and implement a host of technology resources, including the Success Maker integrated learning system, Accelerated Reader, keyboarding programs, participation in the National Geographic Kids Network science curricula, and extended school hours. Her team-based approach for staff development emphasizes peer-coaching, curriculum development groups, and cooperative learning. She supported the staff in designing a comprehensive student discipline system, as well as a social skills and guidance curriculum. Motivational activities, games, and rewards that express Mrs. Brueggeman's enthusiasm for successful learning encourage teachers and students to strive for excellence.
