"There was never any question about dedicating my life to working with children," says Joyce Hart, who teaches kindergarten and first grade at Jackson Elementary School in Green River. "If you don't love all kids, don't go into education," says Mrs. Hart to those considering the teaching profession. At Jackson Elementary School, she has worked on the "Jackson Primary Program," which was put into practice this year. The program explores a multi-level approach aimed at kindergarten and first grade students. A unique feature of this program is the gradual inclusion of kindergarten students into the first grade. "One of the benefits of this approach is that it provides time for students to master outcomes," says Mrs. Hart. She thinks that it is important for educators to keep abreast of new concepts in education reform. As she says, "my training will never stop."
