Teacher Joyanne Hamilton uses the Internet to bring the world to her students at rural Innoko River School in Shageluk. Mrs. Hamilton's students participate in the Annenberg Foundation's "Journey North," an interactive program in which schools around the country use the Internet to trace the migratory patterns of various birds and mammals. Every other year, her students take photos of the Iditarod racers speeding through their town and send the photos via e-mail to their partner school in New Hampshire for placement on their Web site. Ms. Hamilton participates in the Fairbanks North Star School District's Partners in Science program, a National Science Foundation-funded program bringing educators together with science professionals to teach science to students.
