Biology teacher Josh Michael Burton uses technology, hands-on experiences, laboratory work, self-discovery and outdoor activities to make science come alive for students at Albany High School in Albany. His classroom is a stimulating environment full of terrariums, aquariums and environmental habitats, and he uses the latest replicas of the human anatomy for visual and tactile learning. Mr. Burton pioneered the school's current Nursing Assistant Program and established an Allied Health Academy. These programs led to the creation of an annual health fair in which high school and nursing students work alongside each other to offer health services to the community. Mr. Burton sponsors Albany High School's Fellowship of Christian Students and co-sponsors the Science and Social Studies Clubs. He is the author of a Christian science fiction novel and is currently working on his second book.
