As associate principal of Harlem Senior High School in Loves Park, John Hurley typifies the philosophy of giving without asking for recognition. His love of children and devotion to learning account for his limitless belief in his students' potentials. An educator for over 22 years, Mr. Hurley's guidance has challenged students and given them hope and pride in achievement. Through his efforts to better direct problem students, those who misbehave learn dignity and self-respect through community service projects. A teamwork approach to administration offers teachers open lines of communication and fosters pride at Harlem where parents demonstrate their enthusiasm with bumper stickers proclaiming "My Kid's a Winner."
