John is volunteering at Cal State Fullerton as OLLI’s (Osher Life Long Learning Institute) Collaboration Coordinator with the College of Education. He also provides training for graduating teachers on Survival Skills. As part of the university’s Guardian Scholars program he is also mentoring 2 underserved student for success. John Blaydes is a consultant and the author of numerous books, including Survival Skills for the Principalship: A Treasure Chest of Time-Savers, Short-Cuts, and Strategies to Help You Keep a Balance in Your Life, published in 2004, and the best-selling The Educator's Book of Quotes, published in 2003. He has presented motivational workshops to over 60,000 teachers and administrators across the country on topics such as Inspirational Leadership, Survival Skills For Educators and Instructional Leadership. In 1987, the U.S. Office of Education and the National Association of Elementary School Principals recognized Blaydes as a National Distinguished Principal. Previously, he was principal of McGaugh Elementary School in the Los Alamitos Unified School District, where he emphasized participation in schoolwide events and was highly regarded for his curriculum and instructional leadership. In addition to his daily classroom visits, he masterminded the development of the school's award-winning library and media center.
