John Nguyen is the supervisor of Research, Assessment, and Evaluation in New Haven Public Schools which serves approximately 20,000 students. His responsibilities for the position are to lead and manage: (a) the district’s educator evaluation and development process, (b) the administration of the District’s assessment program, including administration of mandated and optional national, state, and district assessments, (c) district’s Educational Research Review process, and act as a primary substantive user of Student Information Systems to ensure that data systems capture and display useful information on student academic and educational progress.
Prior to this position, John was the assistant principal at Cooperative Arts and Humanities for 8 years where he was responsible for the reporting of school data James Hillhouse High School for 5 years and a social studies teacher there for another 8 years. At Hillhouse, John Nguyen received the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award in 2008 and he participated in the Connecticut State Department of Education's Sister Schools Program with the Shandong Province in China. He has been an educator in New Haven for 21 years and 24 years overall.
