In 1994, when Sister John Ann Proach became the principal of Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote, the school lacked a single functioning computer. Since then, she has helped the school acquire over 100 computers in three separate laboratories, all wired for the Internet. She also redesigned the school's science labs and has provided extensive in-service training on integrating the new technology into the curriculum. The impact of Sr. John Ann's thirty-year career in science education can be seen in the large number of former students who are now in science-related professions. Her outstanding work has earned her numerous distinctions, and she conducts frequent workshops and presentations on K-12 science education.
