Though Jenny Middleton teaches science and English to sixth-graders at Lebanon Elementary School in Lebanon, her interdisciplinary programs have had a far wider impact. In her "Lebanon, U.S.A." program, every class in the school devised lesson plans and projects about their hometown, which they then shared via computer with students from the 21 other towns in America named Lebanon. She also created the "Critter Program," in which students learn not only about animals, but how to care for them as well, as they research and adopt a class pet. A member of the science curriculum committee and the district's technology committee, Mrs. Middleton initiated Lebanon Elementary's science fair and created its Web site.
