As the Reading Recovery teacher leader for the Francis Howell School District at Independence Elementary School in St. Charles, Jennifer Pallardy works with reading specialists, classroom teachers, parents, students, principals and district-level administrators to ensure early intervention for at-risk learners. She effectively assesses student learning through observation, analyzes reading difficulties, and designs instruction to address individual student needs. In order to serve most effectively in her current position, Ms. Pallardy spent a year at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, to receive training. Under her leadership, the Reading Recovery program met Adequate Yearly Progress standards for the first time in the history of the program, and the districtwide discontinuation rate has improved steadily. Ms. Pallardy is a member of the Reading Recovery Council of North America.
