At Central Elementary School in Nevada, teacher Janis Brendeland is constantly seeking out creative and relevant ways to improve the education of her second-graders. Ms. Brendeland was one of twelve educators selected for participation in the Heartland Mobile Learning Project, which provided a number of eMate computers to classrooms for a limited period of time. Through this project, she not only taught her students how to use technology, but also emphasized that it is only one tool among many for solving problems. Ms. Brendeland also conducts professional development courses on technology, helping fellow educators learn to integrate multimedia and the Internet into the curriculum.
